A long-lasting tradition of the family

On Sunday, May 23rd, tens of thousands of distinguished gentlefolk in hundreds of cities worldwide did their cravats, press their tweed, and sit astride their classic and vintage styled motorcycles to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men’s mental health on behalf of the Movember Foundation.

One of our colleagues Chantal Knuvers-Pietersen has been participating in the Enschede ride of The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride together with her husband - it is his 6th and her 2nd time. Around 119 bikers have signed up for the Enschede ride, and over 20 000 euros were raised for the initiative. They both love vintage motorbikes and are very supportive of the cause that powers the initiative. Apart from that, it’s a perfect opportunity to show off her Suzuki GT200 X5 from 1979.

“Besides that we are raising money and awareness, it is just an awesome day with classic motorbike enthusiasts and good vibes,” Chantal says.

 The Distinguished Gentleman’s ride

Worldwide the DGR had organized rides in 120 countries and currently raised USD 3.8M this year. The project unites classic and vintage-style motorcycle riders all over the world to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer research and men’s mental health.

It was founded in Sydney, Australia, by Mark Hawwa. It was inspired by a photo of the TV Show Mad Men’s Don Draper astride a classic bike and wearing his finest suit. Mark decided a themed ride would be a great way of connecting niche motorcycle enthusiasts and communities while raising funds to support the men in our lives.

Want to join the cause? Fundraising ends on June 6t 2021.
