athlete testing case study feature image

Kinduct travelled to Japan to facilitate specialized athlete testing and assessments. The testing was coordinated in partnership with R/GA and Glico — a Japanese food company who recently released a line of performance supplements called Power Production.

THE CHALLENGE

Glico was looking to create more engagement and credibility amongst athletes with their Power Production supplements. Their team was curious to learn about the relationship between “rest and performance improvement.” But in order to dive into their research, they needed help. They wanted to test and monitor a fixed group of athletes over a fixed time period, and use data to assist in the telling of this story.

THE SOLUTION

Glico brought together soccer players from J1 Shimizu S-Pulse (youth / junior youth) and amateur runners, who were then tracked and monitored over a three-month period to see if there was indeed a correlation between rest, recovery, and performance. During this process, the athletes underwent athlete testing drills — such as running speed, reaction time, and long jump  — which was facilitated by Kinduct’s on-site staff.

Instead of tracking the athlete’s data in Excel sheets or various siloed data sources, the Kinduct staff used their Athlete Management System to consolidate, organize, and score all of the athlete’s data in one place. Having a single system to manage such a large quantity of data streamlined the workflow and made reporting and performance review much easier for the folks at Glico.

THE RESULT

By leveraging an Athlete Management System, results were easier to analyze, share, and act upon, leading to a successful combine and positive feedback from all parties involved.
